Ancient Giant Takes Root: Coast Redwood Donated to Astley Park

We’re delighted to announce that a magnificent coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) has found its new home in Astley Park, thanks to a successful donation to Chorley Council. The young specimen, which has the potential to reach towering heights over the coming centuries, was carefully planted by the council’s expert grounds team in a specially selected location within the park’s historic grounds. While still modest in size, this remarkable tree – known as one of the world’s most majestic species – will eventually stand as a living monument for future generations, potentially growing to over 300 feet tall and living for thousands of years. We’re proud to contribute to Astley Park’s rich botanical heritage and help create a lasting natural legacy that visitors will enjoy for generations to come.
