Giant Redwood tree in Exeter to be felled after sadly deteriorating

A giant redwood tree in Exeter’s Pinces Gardens Allotments is set to be felled due to significant deterioration over the past year. The tree, estimated to be over 100 years old, has 95% of its foliage turned brown and is deemed beyond saving by City Council tree experts. The 23-meter tall tree is likely a descendant of California’s giant redwoods, planted during the early 1900s. Despite the council’s reluctance to remove such an iconic tree, it’s necessary for safety reasons. The felling will occur before year-end, after the summer harvest.
