Magical Christmas Illumination: George Clarke Lights Up UK’s Tallest Living Christmas Tree at Cragside

At the National Trust’s Cragside property in Northumberland, architect and television presenter George Clarke switched on the lights of the UK’s tallest living Christmas tree, a magnificent 42-metre Giant Redwood adorned with over 2,000 lights. The festive event featured a unique ‘Spirits of the Forest’ theme, which reimagines the carefully cultivated landscape as a wild, enchanted space reclaiming the Victorian mansion. Adding to the magical atmosphere, children from Rothbury First School performed a delightful programme of Christmas classics, creating a memorable holiday experience for guests attending the special tree-lighting ceremony.
