Metasequoia glyptostroboides ‘Matthaei Broom’

This distinctive dwarf cultivar of Metasequoia glyptostroboides was raised from a witches’ broom discovered in 1974 at the Matthaei Botanical Garden in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

What sets this cultivar apart is its unique foliage, which maintains a bronzy hue throughout the growing season (Auders & Spicer 2012). The combination of its compact, dwarf habit and the persistent bronze colour of its foliage makes this an unusual and sought-after selection among Dawn Redwood enthusiasts and collectors.
