Metasequoia glyptostroboides ‘Royal Air’

Dawn Redwood

‘Royal Air’ is a relatively obscure and very recent introduction to the array of Dawn Redwood cultivars available in the commercial market. Originating from the Netherlands, this cultivar has been described by the Bluebell Arboretum & Nursery in the United Kingdom as exhibiting an “upright, pyramidal habit growing to be a slender, small tree in time”.

Despite its recent emergence, limited information is available regarding the specific characteristics or distinctions that set ‘Royal Air’ apart from other Dawn Redwood cultivars. However, its upright pyramidal form and projected slender, small stature suggest a compact growth habit that may appeal to gardeners or landscapers with limited space.
