Sequoia sempervirens ‘Alba’

Coast Redwood

‘Alba’ is a cultivar of Sequoia sempervirens that was raised at the Sénéclauze Nursery in France. It forms a slender shrub with short, spreading branches and pendulous branchlets. The leaves of ‘Alba’ are relatively short and display white coloration, particularly when young (Auders & Spicer 2012).

The distinctive white foliage and compact, pendulous growth habit set ‘Alba’ apart from the typical form of the species. These characteristics make it an attractive option for gardens and landscapes where a smaller, more ornamental version of the coast redwood is desired.
