Sequoia sempervirens ‘Compacta’

Coast Redwood

‘Compacta’ is an old cultivar of Sequoia sempervirens that was recorded by Nelson in 1866. However, according to Auders & Spicer (2012), it is probably no longer in cultivation.

The name ‘Compacta’ suggests that this cultivar likely had a compact or dense growth habit, which would have distinguished it from the typical form of the species.
