Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Albospicum’

Giant Redwood

Included in the 2009 catalogue of Stanley & Sons Nursery in Oregon, USA, this cultivar develops an irregular, broad pyramidal shape with white-variegated foliage, reaching 2.5 meters in height and 1.5 meters in width within ten years. Since there is no evidence indicating that the name was published before 1959, the Latin form of the cultivar name is considered invalid. Auders & Spicer did not find any information to support the idea that this material represents the older cultivar ‘Album Spicum’; therefore, a new name should be assigned to this particular plant material.
