Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Globosum’

A plant with the name ‘Globosa’ (which, being in Latin form, is only considered valid if it can be proven to have been published before 1959) was acquired by the late British nurseryman and conifer expert Derek Spicer from Minier Nurseries in France in 2000. Spicer propagated and distributed the material on a modest scale, including to the Conifer Garden in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, which listed it in their catalogue in 2002 (Auders & Spicer 2012). However, it is possible that the plant obtained from Minier Nurseries may have been an erroneous renaming of the cultivar ‘Globus’ (see below).
