Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Pyramidale Compactum’

Giant Redwood

‘Pyramidale Compactum’ is a Sequoiadendron cultivar very similar to ‘Compactum’, with many authors considering them synonymous. However, Auders & Spicer (2012) note its distinct origin, having been raised before 1890 by Otin & Fils in Saint-Etienne, France. Like ‘Compactum’, ‘Pyramidale Compactum’ likely exhibits a dense, compact, and narrowly pyramidal growth habit, making it suitable for gardens and landscapes where a more compact form of the giant sequoia is desired.
