Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Variegatum’

Giant Redwood

‘Variegatum’ is a Sequoiadendron cultivar first recorded in cultivation in France by Carrière in 1867. It is described as a slow-growing, squat pyramid with a dirty white variegation on its foliage. According to Auders & Spicer (2012), this cultivar can reach a height of 4.5 m and a width of 3.5 m within ten years. The unique variegated foliage and compact, pyramidal form make ‘Variegatum’ an interesting choice for gardens and landscapes where a distinctive, slow-growing conifer is desired.
