Actor Tom Skerritt and his wife Julie are leading a campaign to save a grove of century-old redwood trees in Seattle from potential removal for housing development. The couple has joined neighbours in advocating for creative building solutions that would preserve the five 100-year-old redwoods, which provide habitat for eagles and help stabilise a steep slope with underground streams. The property has been designated as an Environmentally Critical Area, and whilst plans for a single-family home remain unconfirmed, Seattle officials have approved lot subdivision that could lead to tree removal.
