Well known Exeter Giant Redwoods to be felled over safety concerns

Two significant trees in Exeter city centre are set to be felled due to safety concerns: a declining Redwood outside the Civic Centre and a young Coast Redwood in Longbrook Street that’s threatening nearby structures. The council plans to retain parts of the sequoia for benches and carved memorials, whilst ensuring replacement trees are planted in more suitable locations. The decision, though difficult, has been deemed necessary by city officials who emphasise their commitment to maintaining urban greenery.
