The Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Powder Blue’ is a fast-growing variant of giant redwood, renowned for its striking, powdery-blue foliage, which sets it apart as one of the bluest among giant redwoods. This cultivar was originally developed at Peacedale Nursery in Washington, it has a fairly open habit with a broad form.

In terms of growth, ‘Powder Blue’ exhibits a rapid rate, increasing approximately 45-50 cm annually. Within a decade, it typically reaches about 4.5 meters in height.

This full-sized giant sequoia, known for being among the largest of conifers, develops a more open structure and a wider girth compared to the Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Glaucum’. It features a prominent, upright main leader and horizontal lower branches that tend to become pendulous as the tree ages.

Its distinctive awl-shaped, light-blue foliage adds to its appeal. Due to its mammoth size and unique appearance, ‘Powder Blue’ requires ample space to grow and thrive, making it an impressive addition to spacious landscapes where it can be accommodated.

Hardy in all of the UK (-20C to -15C).

Currently about 30cm tall.

1x Giant Redwood ‘Powder Blue’ sometimes known as ‘Powdered Blue’ supplied in a 3 litre pot.
